While we keep busy in the garden, our amazing supporters are winning awards around the globe. As we enter our 6th year in business (in 2025), we know the future is bright, as our genetics have won 8 awards to date. As heartwarming feedback rolls in from countries big and small, it helps us better design strains that stand out in today’s competitive market.

When considering what strains to create, we like to take into account not only what the market is consuming, but what direction it may be heading in. The ability to predict the next popular strain is key to creating cup-winning genetics.

Award Winners

The following strains have won awards across the globe in chronological order:

Kanaka Kush 

Lemonade x (Crippy x Haole Girl)

Kanaka Kush was entered into the Washington Cannabis Cup by Goldleaf Gardens and won 1st Place Best Infused PreRoll and 1st Place Best Solventless Hash in 2020.

Guava Chiffon 

Sunset Sherbet x (Crippy x Haole Girl)

Guava Chiffon was entered into a private cannabis event on the Northeast Coast of the U.S. in 2021. The guest judges included a reputable lineup of cannabis connoisseurs, rappers, Fortune 500 company CEOs, and several others. 808 Genetics took 1st and 2nd place at this event, with Guava Chiffon coming in at #1. The key standouts from 808 Genetics’ strains were the pronounced flavor and aroma with the common remark that it tastes just like it smells.

Erkle 

Purple Urkle x High School Sweetheart

Erkle was the second strain that won at the private cannabis event on the Northeast Coast of the U.S. in 2021. This event was held for one of the largest license holders in the area to determine what genetic company they wanted to move forward and work with.

Sherb N Runtz #7 

Sunset Sherbet x Runtz BX

Sherb N Runtz #7 was selected by @bung_lu_detch and entered into The Grow Off competition in 2022. It won 1st place with the highest cannabinoids (33.30%) and tied for highest terpenes (2.85%). It was reported that this year’s event had the highest number of entries ever submitted and Sherb N Runtz #7 broke the record for the highest cannabinoids ever tested for the event.

Ogre Breath 

GMO x Meat Breath

Ogre Breath was entered into a Cannabis Cup in Bariloche, Argentina, in May of 2023 and took 1st place out of 100 entries. It was beautifully grown and submitted by the Uruguayan growers of El Limbo Cannabis Club.

Pie Cake 

(Cherry Pie x Wedding Cake x Crippy BX2) x (Cherry Pie x Wedding Cake x Crippy BX2)

Pie Cake was entered into NECANN (New England Cannabis Convention), the “largest cannabis and hemp convention series in the world” by Lazy River Productions on the East Coast of the U.S. in 2023. It won 3rd place for best pre roll.

OMG Burger

GMO x GMO BX3

OMG Burger is our GMO BX4 that recently won Highest THC (33.4%) and 4th Overall Smokeability out of 76 entries in December of 2024 at an event in Bangkok,Thailand. The winning pheno of OMG Burger was grown and selected by Teratera-Actera who told us that it actually tested higher than that in a previous run at 33.93%.

Strawberry Cherry Pie 

Cherry Pie x Strawberry Runtz

Strawberry Cherry Pie just took 1st place for best hash at The Culture Cup qualifier in June 2025. The event was held in Maine and there were 75 entries submitted. It was grown, washed, and submitted by the Breakwater Dispensary from New Jersey.

It’s interesting to note that multiple mothers and genetic combinations are winning these events and awards. From the above list, 2 Sunset Sherbet crosses (Guava Chiffon and Sherb N Runtz), 2 GMO crosses (Ogre Breath and OMG Burger), a Purple Urkle cross (Erkle), 2 Cherry Pie crosses (Pie Cake and Strawberry Cherry Pie), and a Lemonade cross (Kanaka Kush) have all won awards, proving that the region does matter when it comes to strain preference.
