As part of an official collaboration with Canna Research, our Watermelon Rolex menu is just in time for summer (July 2025) and is all about creating strains with bold tropical fruit flavors that wash. Canna Research gifted us his selected Watermelon Rolex male to use for this project largely in part because he wanted it crossed to several of our clone-only mothers, which we do not give out. He also gifted us his cut of Grape Moon Pop and Strawberry Soufflé, which we crossed in previous menus (Peanut Butter Breath BX2 and GG#4 BX), and included in this new menu as well.

Being able to work so closely with another breeder’s gear, based off of their selections, allows us to compare them to our own while noting any differences in the plants. This kind of information is valuable because it allows us to both incorporate new genetics into some of our lines as well as see what traits are desired in other markets. All of this research ultimately allows us to better develop strains that standout and can compete on the shelf.
How Did This Collaboration Happen?
This collaboration was recommended by Darkstar Seed Bank. He has a popular YouTube channel that features breeders, growers, businesses, and product designers from across the country. As the owner of a seed bank that features tons of different breeders’ gear, in addition to successfully acquiring such an interactive audience, he knows a lot of people in the industry and knows what is popular with consumers as well. He and his audience thought the collaboration would result in some highly desired, next level creations. After speaking with Canna Research over several months, both sides agreed the collaboration should happen.

We normally only work with selections we make as we know our genetics, their stability, quality, and vigor; however, with Canna Research being a second generation grower himself, we knew the passion was there, making us more confident and willing to work with his gear. During the collaboration, having several phone conversations as well as YouTube live interactions, and growing out two of his selected females as well as the Watermelon Rolex male, we felt confident that his selections will provide value to some of our lines and be worth working with.
The Male
Because this is the first time we have made a menu with a male we didn’t select, we made sure to really test it. We do that anyway with our own males, but we needed to confirm this male was stable and of quality. We grew this male for at least 6 months before moving forward with the breeding project. The main goal of this menu was to pair the Watermelon Rolex with some of our clone-only mothers. Mothers that were specifically talked about before the project began were Papaya, Lemonade, and Cherry Pie. Both parties thought those particular pairings would create some popular, standout crosses.

The male produced pollen sacs that were thick and stacked and he was a fast finisher
Other mothers we crossed it to that we are excited about are Rainbow Ropez, Sugar Titz, Grape Hi Chew, Lemon Lipz, and Sour Tropicanna Cookies. We deliberately chose mostly fruit-dominant or sweeter terpene profiles to pair the Watermelon Rolex with, although we did cross it to a few gas-dominant profiles like Crippy, GG#4, Chemdog D, and GMO.
The male produced pollen sacs that were thick and stacked, which is a great quality for a male to have, as he will pass that trait onto the offspring. This male was also a fast finisher, which will improve the bloom times of the crosses created as well, really great for some of the mothers that have longer bloom times.
What is Watermelon Rolex?

The genetics for the Watermelon Rolex lineage are:
- Watermelon Rolex is Watermelon N Later Red Gummy cut crossed to Rainbow Rolex #1.
- Watermelon N Later is Watermelon Soda from Superseed Co crossed to Zlushies from Raw Genetics.
- Zlusthies is created by Raw Genetics and is Zkittlez x Strawberry Fritter.
Hawaiian Grape Icee
In a previous collaboration with Canna Research, we crossed his selected female cut of Grape Moon Pop to our Peanut Butter Breath BX2 male, which we named Hawaiian Grape Icee. We popped those seeds and found three main phenotypes, a Grape Moon Pop dominant, a mixture of sweet grape, fermented grape, and peanut butter dank, and a Peanut Butter Breath dominant.

Grape Moon Pop is a high yielding, resinous plant that has an undeniable grape terp
Because we already have several Peanut Butter Breath selections in our stable, we were in search of a grape pheno. It was fairly easy to tell the phenos apart as the Grape Moon Pop dominant ones had more of a short squat Indica structure with wide leaves while the PBB dominant phenos were taller with skinnier leaves.
We did cross the Hawaiian Grape Icee phenos to the Watermelon Rolex, although with not much time to veg them out, the seed stock is extremely limited and may remain unreleased, only used for future breeding projects.
Lemon Sugar Lipz
In addition to hunting through the new Hawaiian Grape Icee phenos, we had Lemon Sugar Lipz phenos included in this menu as well. While, not surprisingly, more Runtz dominant than the previous generation, we did find more of those pungent candied lemon peel terps that we found in the Lemon Lipz seed stock. We are really enjoying the Lemon Lipz lineage as it produces a strong candy lemon profile that tastes as good as it smells.
One In A Melon Menu
With this project we hope to bring artificial candy fruit profiles that translate in both the smell and the flavor. We want that terpene profile to translate specifically in hash rosin form, focusing on big dumpers that return 4%+ to hash rosin, but obviously also in flower form as well. The best washers from this menu will include Watermelon Papaya, StrawGuava Melon, Grape Melon Burst, Black Melons, Chemelon, Jurassic Melons, Monster Melons, and Watermelon Fritter. This menu offers fruity candy flavors that will stand out on the shelf, in the jar, and on the table, providing immense potential to win awards and set brands apart from the competition.
