Most Popular Strains Of 2024

2024 brought a sweet list of strains for the top 5. The number one strain was from our Papaya mother, making it the first Papaya cross to come in at the number one spot. We also had two Runtz crosses and two Sherb N Runtz #7 crosses make the list. A noteworthy fact, all of the top strains of this year and more of a sweet profile rather than a gassy one.

Here are the most popular strains of 2024:

1. Rainbow Papaya

Papaya x (Papaya x Zkittlez BX3)

The number one strain of 2024 was Rainbow Papaya, a Papaya BX, outselling all other packs that year by a considerable amount. Most said they found a minimum of 2 keepers in every pack. We’ve had great feedback about this strain. The terpene profile will be fruity and tropical, with notes of sweet candy. This strain will be perfect for washing. With a bloom time of 9-10 weeks depending on the pheno, this plant will have a moderate veg time and will need to be thoughtfully defoliated for best results. This is our fifth Papaya BX we’ve made so far and is proving to be the most popular. Other Papaya BX we’ve made include: Papaya Juice, Pieya, Proper Papaya, and Papaya Island.

2. Pazazz

Sherb N Runtz #7 x (Papaya x Zkittlez BX3)

From the same menu as the Rainbow Papaya, so having the same father, Pazazz came in at #2. Sherb N Runtz #7 is an award-winning strain, bringing home first place in the National 2023 Grow Off competition. The Sherb N Runtz #7 mother was a special pheno that is dense, easy to grow, and has a unique terpene profile that smells like neither Sunset Sherbet or Runtz (its parents); instead, taking on more of a cinnamon sugar or churro aroma.

3. Boujee Runtz

Sugar Titz x Runtz BX3

Last year our Runtz BX3, named Bombshell, took the #1 spot; so we weren’t too surprised to see Boujee Runtz in the top five. We did find it interesting that people chose Sugar Titz as the preferred mother rather than Runtz, although Sugar Titz has quickly become known as being better than the original Runtz, so it is understandable after knowing that. To be specific, Boujee Runtz is Runtz BX2 x Runtz BX3.

4. Blue Oyster

Sherb N Runtz #7 x Crippy BX5

Coming in at #4, Blue Oyster is also bred from our Sherb N Runtz #7 mother, this time being paired with our Crippy BX5 (called Gas Head) male. We were so impressed with the structure and resin production on our Gas Head male that we know this is going to be a special cross to grow. The Crippy will add strength to the offspring as well as a gassy, lemon pinesol terp.

5. 808 Runtz

Runtz x Runtz BX3

And last but not least, 808 Runtz, our Runtz BX4, came in at #5. Runtz crosses have proven to be extremely popular for the past 2 years. We have already grown out and selected a nice male from this seed stock to work with in future breeding projects, which we will be crossing back to the original mother to make a Runtz BX5. Why do people like Runtz so much? It is an enjoyable strain with a distinct candy flavor that just tastes too good not to love. It will have a 9 week bloom time, will display gorgeous purple and maroon colors in cooler temps, and will be coated in resin. It also has a quick veg time, making it a great cultivar to work with.

What’s In The Works For 2025?

2025 will bring several exciting menus. We will be working with males like OMG Burger (GMO BX4), Arkenstone (GG#4 BX), Lemon Lipz, and The Green Monster (Crippy BX6) in addition to a new collaboration with Canna Research and his selected Watermelon Rolex male. We look forward to seeing what 2025 strains become your new favorites.
