1st Annual Kauai Cannabis Event 2023

The vibe at the 1st ever Kauai Cannabis Cup was amazing. We had a great time and enjoyed having like-minded cannabis enthusiasts come together to celebrate the plant we all love. Vendors and guests from all of the Hawaiian Islands showed up to help make this event one for the books. Guests from L.A. to Maine were also in attendance to show their support. Hosted by 808 Genetics, there was a wide range of brands, entrepreneurs, farmers, healers, and artists coming together to showcase their best work in cannabis here in beautiful Kauai.

The goal of this event was to bring the cannabis community together as well as hold the first ever Cannabis Cup here on Kauai to showcase what Hawaii has to offer in regards to genetics and growing talent. With winners from multiple Hawaiian islands, we couldn’t be happier with the results.

The Cannabis Cup

For the first event, this Hawaii competition had a great turnout of participants with the following categories available:

Candy
Gas
Mix or Wildcard

Each contestant could enter up to 3 indoor strains and 3 outdoor strains in each category (for a total of 9 entries per person). All together, there were 15 entries for solventless and 16 flower entries, 4 indoor and 12 outdoor. Most entries fell into the candy category with only 1 real gas entry submitted. Judge passes were available to the general public (and sold out) in addition to hand selected head judges from across the island and varying in age to ensure the most accurate and knowledgeable results possible. Blind samples were numbered and handed out to the judges without any knowledge of the strain or grower with the goal of keeping the results as unbiased and genuine as possible. Only flower and solventless produced within the Hawaiian Islands were able to enter for this event.
